Born and educated in India, he moved to Australia in 1982, where he completed the first-ever Australian PhD on wind power at the University of Western Australia in 1984. His groundbreaking research in solar and wind systems made renewable energy more accessible and sustainable. As a result, Professor Nayar became an instrumental figure in the global transition to renewable energy, establishing Regen Power in 2003, a company that now stands as a leader in the solar energy sector in Australia.
Revolutionary Contributions and Innovations
Throughout his illustrious career, Professor Nayar authored over 80 refereed journal articles and more than 135 conference papers, sharing his insights and innovations with the world. He was the driving force behind several transformative projects, including the design of Australia’s first hybrid solar systems and numerous solar and wind power installations worldwide. As the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies Australia (CRESTA) founder at Curtin University, he led applied research to solve complex challenges associated with remote power supply systems and weak electricity grids.
